The School of Functional Materials and Nanotechnology
The School of Functional Materials and Nanotechnology, also known as the FUNMAT Research School, was established by the University of Oslo board in late 2004. An important goal for this school is to make the research education at FUNMAT more attractive for students, by letting students acquire an in-depth knowledge of research and methods that are not an integral part of their own projects.
While a broad and up-to-date knowledge of modern techniques should benefit the students, the Research School is also helping to accomplish the cross-disciplinary cooperation that is an important part of FUNMAT's goals. The groups which are currently part of the FUNMAT command a wide array of experimental techniques and equipment, as well as wide-ranging theoretical expertise. The Research School aims to establish regular contact between the students, providing a firm base for cooperation.
