ERSTA SKÖNDAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

STOCKHOLM
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and the inner city has a population of 776,000, while the populations of the Stockholm urban area and Metropolitan Stockholm are roughly 1.2 and 1.9 million, respectively. The Stockholm region is home to around 20% of Sweden's total population, and 40.5% of the population is between 20 and 44 years. With its location on 14 islands on the east coast of Sweden at the mouth of Lake Mälaren, the city is widely renowned for its beauty. The notable Old City, or Gamla Stan, is also part of the reason for this – and there are even two UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Stockholm area.

ERSTA SKÖNDAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (ESH)
Ersta Sköndal University College is dedicated to studies in the fields of social work, nursing and health care, theology, church music with an explicit ethical and diaconal orientation. It was founded in 1998 through the merger of the Ersta Society for Diaconal Work and The Stora Sköndal Foundation. The University College has two campuses, one at Ersta, the other at Stora Sköndal, with a total of approximately 1000 students. Both campuses offer a combination of old tradition and new interdisciplinary collaboration. The ESH has departments of Church Music, Diaconal Studies and Theology, Health Care Sciences, and Social Work. It also has an Institute for Commissioned Education and University College Libraries.
