In 1998, the board of Bodø University College decided to form an International Board to support the University College Board in cases concerning the internationalisation process at Bodø University College.

International Board's (IB) mandate:

1. IB is a strategic, advising and coordinating body of the the University College Board in cases concerning internationalisation at Bodø University College.
2. The internationalisation process at Bodø University College mainly takes place within each department. IB shall support and contribute to extended co-operation between the departments in international issues through information sessions, seminars on internationalisation, etc.
3. IB shall work purposefully to establish functioning co-operation agreements with institutions abroad. This work is based on the activities within the departments and their academia, which are financially and academically responsible for their own international activities.
4. IB shall offer an opinion on larger administrative matters concerning international activities.
5. IB shall give advice and contribute to actions in order to achieve aims within the strategic plans and other institutional documents concerning internationalisation.
6. IB shall work actively towards securing good financial conditions and development possibilities for internationalisation at Bodø University College
7. IB has the decision-making authority when prioritising joint applications concerning financial support for international activities from Bodø University College. IB shall also allocate internationalisation resources given to HBO as a whole.
8. IB shall produce annual action plans and reports, which are to be presented to the University College Board within the given deadlines.
