NOMA workshop at Oslo University College

From 24th October to 1st November Oslo University College hosted a workshop for the collaborating partners in the NORAD sponsored Master’s Programme in International Education and Development (NOMA).
Representatives from Ahfad University for Women (Khartoum/Sudan), University of Zambia, and University of Cape Town (South Africa) met with colleagues from Oslo University College.
– This was a fruitful workshop with a mix of activities. Our colleagues attended lectures in Qualitative Research Methodology together with the master students from both the Master’s Programme in International Education and Development (NOMA) and the Master’s Programme in Multicultural and International Education (MIE). In addition, we had meetings with administrative representatives from the Faculty of Education, the International Office at Oslo University College, and internal meetings in the group of collaborating partners, says Heidi Biseth, the administrative NOMA coordinator.
The NOMA students are attending studies at Oslo University College this semester and had the opportunity to meet with all the academic staff in this joint project. The students were eager to tell about their experiences so far; all from a demanding academic environment to experiences of cultural challenges and a climate they are not used to. By mid-January all the NOMA students are leaving for the University of Cape Town to attend Module 3 in the programme.
– Furthermore, Professor Anders Breidlid adds, we had the opportunity to discuss academic issues with our colleagues. We all have different academic traditions which create interesting challenges in a collaboration of this kind. A workshop like this is essential in order to promote true partnership with our partners from the South. In addition, this contributes to a strengthening of the South-South collaboration within this project.
