Faculty of Engineering Science & Technology

THE LARGEST AT NTNU, the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology (commonly abbreviated IVT), offers students a choice of more than 30 engineering specializations and 10 departments (left). The degree programmes offered by IVT are primarily Master's programmes (Siv.ing and MSc), while we do offer a number of PhD programmes.

IVT cooperates closely with industry to ensure that both our research and degree programmes contribute to a sustainable and viable social development.

NTNU awards approximately 80% of all Master of Science/advanced engineering degrees in Norway. Six of the 15 Master's of Engineering degree programmes (Siv.ing.) belong to this faculty, while we offer an additional 7 international Master of Science (MSc) study options in English.

Research Excellence

THIS FACULTY IS HOST to the Centre for Ships and Ocean Structures, and actively participates in the International Centre for Geohazards. Both of these centres have status as a research Centre of Excellence (CoE), and are devoted to long-term, basic research. COE status is determined by the Research Council of Norway. At present there are 13 COEs in Norway. [more IVT Research ]
