ARRIVAL IN OSLO

Oslo International Airport at Gardermoen – 50 kilometers northeast of Oslo – is the main gateway to Norway. Sandefjord Airport Torp – 110 kilometers southwest of Oslo –  is another Oslo airport. Transportation details are available by accessing the following link:

The airport express bus is the cheaper alternative for reaching Oslo from the airport, and so is also the ordinary (Norwegian State Railways) train service. The airport express train is the faster alternative. Airport taxis are available at a reduced – fixed – rate.  The conference hotel, Munch Hotel (Munchs gate 5) is located within just a short walking distance from the train stop at Nationaltheatret and the airport express bus stop at  Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel. Taxis are usually waiting in line near these points of arrival, or they can be ordered by calling the number 02323. The bus serving passengers arriving at Torp Airport departs for Oslo Bus Terminal, which is situated adjacent to Oslo Central Station. A walk from here to the conference hotel takes 10-15 minutes. Otherwise, the Nationaltheatret train station is just one stop away.

Weather in Oslo will probably be cool but not necessarily more so than in other cities in the northern part of Japan, Europe, and North America. Average day temperature is some degrees above the freezing point in daytime and a few degrees below in nighttime.

Credit cards are accepted for most payments, including taxis and restaurants, and for cash withdrawal at ATMs.
