Language requirements
Norwegian is the language of instruction at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, and therefore it is necessary for regular students to have a good command of the language.
One of the alternatives to document the Norwegian knowledge is by taking a test called Bergenstesten where a minimum score of 450 is required. It is possible to arrange this test at a Norwegian embassy. English is easily understood by most of the employes and students, and in many cases it is possible to write exams in English.
Undergraduate level, first year basic course in Sport Science
- Admission requirements: Graduation from secondary school with acceptable academic credentials and the passing of the physical skills entrance examination.
- Deadline for ordinary applicants: 15. April
- Deadline for international applicants: 1. March
Deadline for sending certificates (transcripts of grades) from courses that will be completed in the spring is 1. July.
It is a requirement that applicants from other countries have their application written in Norwegian or English, and that all recommendations, confirmations and diplomas are translated into Norwegian or English. Both Norwegian and English knowledge must be documented.
Undergraduate level, years 2-4
- Admission requirements: Successful completion of the first year basic course in Sport Science at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, or a similar one year course.
- Deadline for all applicants: 15. April

Graduate programmes
- Admission requirements: A bachelor degree in sport and physical education is required. In addition, advanced studies in the academic area chosen for graduate study are required. The grade average must be C or better in the major area.
- Deadline: 1. March
