The Laboratory for Hydrogen and
Fuel Cell Technology Research is mainly concerned with the development of technologies for:
- applying various hydrogen carriers (ammonia, methanol)
- hydrogen storage in metal hydrides and carbon
materials
- hydrogen production by water electrolysis
The laboratory is equipped with gas supply systems (mass flow controlled), gas sensors, electrochemical test stations and equipment for preparation of supported and non-supported electrocatalysts.
The group also performs fundamental work on catalyst/-support development, mechanistic studies, and studies of effect of impurities on the membrane materials. Furthermore, development of high temperature polymer fuel cell systems is an ongoing activity. Equipment for performing more fundamental electrochemical investigations, like ac-impedance frequency analysers, electrochemical quartz crystal nano-/micro-balances, several potentiostats are also available.
The Laboratory has also equipment for accurate measurements of hydrogen absorption as a function of temperature and pressure (PCT) in various materials.

Hydrogen storage
in various materials may be determined by the
PCT-equipment (Pressure, Compo-sition,
Temperature). The equipment has
been developed in cooperation
with McGill University in Canada. |
