The Heliosi Laboratory contains equipment to cast and characterise silicon for solar cells:
- Clean room laboratory for casting multi crystalline pure silicon for solar cells by directional solidification under controlled atmospheric conditions. Cylinder shaped solid ingots with a diameter of 250 mm and a height of 120 mm may be produced.
- Equipment for cutting and slicing.
- Metallographic characterisation of dislocation densities (PVScan6000), grain size and texture (SEM with EBSD).
- FTIR for chemical analysis of C and O.
