The Life Cycle Assessment Laboratory - the LCA lab for short - is a small research and teaching unit serving NTNU with expertise on LCA and related tools like Material flow analysis (MFA) and Substance flow analysis (SFA). The unit sorts under Dep. of Energy and Process Engineering but is geographically located within the offices of the Industrial Ecology Programme in Realfagbygget. The LCA lab is partly funded by P2005.
The staff at the laboratory offers seminars and guest lectures on life cycle assessment (LCA), provide practical training sessions in the use of LCA software tools, and is responsible for the LCA and Eco-efficiency Course (TEP 4223). The lab also offers assistance to research projects using LCA and related methods.
The LCA Laboratory staff consists of:
:: Associate professor Anders Hammer Strømman, Manager
:: Eng. Christian Solli, Researcher
:: Eng. Marte Reenaas, Research assisstant

The LCA lab conducts research developing and applying methods for describing environmental repercussions of products and product systems. The field of LCA is rapidly developing and methodologies are continuously improving. In the most recent years the research of the LCA lab has focused on the combination of LCA and input-output (IO) methodology.
Current Main Activities:
:: Integration of LCA and IO Methodology
:: LCA of emerging energy technologies
