Social pharmacy is the field where natural sciences meet humanistic and social sciences. Knowledge of medications and their effects, which are a pharmacist’s professional expertise, are built on subjects such as chemistry, biochemistry, physics and physiology. However, the social and humanistic perspective is important to understand people’s beliefs and attitudes towards medicine use, and how rational medicine use in the population can be promoted.
