I am a plant ecologist with a broad range of research interests, including:

  • Community ecology; especially how dispersal and niche processes interact to shape the patterns in diversity and dominance that we observe in nature
  • Seed ecology and seedbank dynamics
  • Effects of climate change; and how these scale across levels of organization from physiology via populations to communities
  • Human land-use regimes, past and present, and their effects on terrestrial ecosystems
