Research group: Ruminant physiology and nutrition |
The scientists in the ruminant physiology and nutrition group have a high level of expertise within a broad range of animal species (sheep, goats, cattle, horses and reindeer), production types (dairy, meat production) and feed (pasture, conserved roughage and feed concentrates). The group's expertise covers both basic and applied aspects of ruminant physiology and nutrition, thus providing the basis for research in such areas as feed assessment, product quality, resource utilisation and environmental issues. The research group has modern research facilities with highly qualified staff at its disposal. Furthermore, the group maintains extensive contacts with international research environments and cooperates closely with the livestock industry. In other words, the ruminant research group has an excellent basis for continuing its high level of research activities.
