Diploma Supplement

Cathrine Strømø

The Diploma Supplement (DS) follows the model developed by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES.

The Diploma Supplement (DS) is an international document attached to a higher education diploma. The DS gives a detailed description of the holder`s qualification (s), and always includes a description of the national education system.

One of the main aims of the DS is to increase transparancy in higher education and thus ensure a fair and objective judgement of academic and professional qualifications. It is important to note that the DS is a supplement to, not a replacement of, diploma. The DS shall be free of any value judgement or suggestions.

At the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) the DS is issued in English to all students upon graduation. The Diploma Supplement is free of charge

Diploma Supplement is one of five documents included in Europass.
