LIDAR
Ellen Soldal
Airborne LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is among the most powerful remote sensing technologies for quantification of forest structure over large areas.
The technology has over a few years found its role as an operational tool in forest inventory, and is becoming increasingly more relevant for collection of forest structural information for forest ecosystem research in a broad sense.
In August 2006 INA hosted a workshop on LIDAR (The role of airborne LiDAR in forest ecosystem monitoring, management, and research). The
presentations from the workshop are available here.
