You will gain ecological and economical knowledge that makes you able to exploit the various opportunities in a sustainable manner and, at the same time, preserve the natural values in the forest. This competence is in demand in Norway as well as in the global labor market.

How we manage our forest today will have great impact on future forests, ecology and profitability on a long-term basis. During your master studies in Forest Science you will learn:

  • how to manage the forest with both ecological and economical considerations in mind
  • about logging and transportation with technical, economical and environmentally sustainable methods
  • about the impressive variety of forest products, their areas of utilization and their markets.

You specialize in one of the following areas:
- Silviculture
- Resource economics and planning in forestry
- Wood technology

The teaching methods we use vary, and include workshops, project reports, field trips and excursions to local enterprises. This gives you a good opportunity to get familiar with the forest industry, special interest organizations and the forestry research field. We incite our students to take parts of their education abroad, and many of our students follow that encouragement.
