Short facts about UMB
The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) was established in 1859 as a teaching institution only. Research became the primary function in connection with the reorganisation in 1897, and today it makes out about half of the activity at UMB. The emphasis is put on planning for the future's agriculture, environmental protection, use of technology in agriculture, food quality and aquaculture.

University status
All NOKUT's institution ( NOKUT= Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education) accreditations are published in public reports. The evaluation is made by an expert committee that assesses whether or not the institution meets the requirements to accreditations from the ministry's regulation and NOKUT's criteria.
