The following estimated costs are for a single student for one semester of 5 months. We would like to point out that this is a minimum budget.

Accommodation NOK 11,000. Food/household NOK 15,000. Books NOK 4,000. Clothing NOK 3,500. Phone NOK 2,000. Local transport NOK 1,000. Semester fee NOK 240. Sports club NOK 300. Student society NOK 200. Leisure NOK 2,500. Total/semester NOK 39,740.

Examples:
A beer at the student society is NOK 35-40.
A weekend trip tenting in the mountains would be a minimum of NOK 1,000.

If you are staying for a full academic year you should expect to spend 80,000,- on a minimum budget. According to government statistics the average student in Norway spends app. 7.000 - 9.000, - pr. month while studying.
