Aids
Cathrine Strømø
AIDS is not particularly dangerous for most people. Normal social behaviour and prevention such as the use of a condom during sexual intercourse does not involve risk of contagion.
None of the large numbers of health personnel in Norway who have had contact with AIDS patients have been infected. All donors of blood, organs and semen are tested for the disease in Norway, thereby hindering the possibility of infection in blood transfusions, transplants and semen donation. Even though AIDS is not widespread in Norway, it is a serious disease and we must do everything we can to hinder it being spread.
The Norwegian health service offers advice and help to persons who is AIDS positive and their relatives and contacts, persons in risk groups, and persons who would like more information generally. Your
doctor or the
Social Consultant can be contacted for further information.
