Bird studies in a rainforest in Uganda
Svein Dale
Tropical rainforests harbour a large proportion of the world's biodiversity, but tropical forests are increasingly threatened by human activity.

Large areas of tropical forests have been lost due to logging, agriculture, plantations and urbanization. Remaining forests are often small, fragmented and subjected to many types of human impacts. Which species can survive in remnant forests, and how will they fare? Which species tolerate forestry, edge effects or human disturbance? How do these factors affect reproduction, survival and dispersal?
These questions have been investigated in a rainforest in Uganda (Budongo Forest Reserve).
Svein Dale has been supervisor for three Master thesis and one Semester thesis done by Norwegian students. These studies have been part of a larger research programme,
Budongo Forest Project.
