SNP: Genotyping
Paul Berg
The CIGENE genotyping facility, funded by FUGE, provides flexible, high quality, high throughput SNP Genotyping as a service to the academic research community in Norway.
Since summer 2003, we have served more than 25 different external users on more then 50 projects. The projects have varied from e.g. bacteria to plants, humans, birds and elephants.
Currently, our SNP genotyping service is based on the MassARRAY system from
Sequenom and the SNPlex system from
Applied Biosystems. These two SNP genotyping systems vary in their flexibility and throughput. Both of these systems have sufficient through-put capacity to handle the SNP genotyping demand from most of our potential platform users in Norway for the next few years.
The preferred choice between these two technologies will vary, depending on the size of the project (number of samples and number of SNPs), its costs and also the user's preference. Information on
our prices.
We are currently also investing in an ultra-high-throughput system that will be available to our users in the near future.

feedback form. Your comments will help us in our efforts to continually improve the services we offer.
