Normally NVH is able to grant a limited number of scholarships to successful applicants from partner institutions in developing countries and central & eastern Europe. A scholarship of NOK 80 000 (approx. 10 000 US$ per year) may be granted in the form of an interest free loan, which is converted into a scholarship once students have returned to their home country.
Cost of studies and living
As for other governmentally funded schools in Norway,
NVH does not charge tuition fees. Students must, however, pay a small semester fee of NOK 430/65 US$, and cover expenses for books, teaching materials, PC, and own living costs. Students from abroad will receive assistance from the School in getting accommodation.
NB! The Norwegian immigration authorities require all students from outside the EU/EEA to document that they have NOK 80 000 (approx. 10 000 US$) to cover their living costs annually.
Computers, software, library, scientific writing
We recommend that each student bring a laptop. The School will offer linking to internet services. Most of the teaching plans and most of the teaching material not available from the library, or through the School’s bookstore, will be available through the web. Some of the teaching will use specialised software. These programmes will be offered for free or at student cost.
Students will have access to the School’s library including search on reference databases searchable through the web. Students not familiar with literature search or reference library software, such as Reference Manager or Endnote, will be offered special training.
As an integrated part of the training, the School will also offer training in scientific writing, through external partners or as separate courses at the Campus.
