Courses in English 2007/2008
The main language of instruction for our degrees is Norwegian. Many of the exchange students at Faculty of Health Education and Social Work are doing field placement, given additional academic assistance and supervision in English.
1. Occupational therapy
Evidence-Based Occupational Therapy (6 ECTS)
The course focuses on the concept Information literacy, which is a basis for lifelong learning. Information literacy enables students to recognize when information is needed and to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information. The course emphasises search for and critical use of a selection of information resources. (Offered from January 2008.)
2. Health and social care in the welfare state-a cross-cultural perspective(18 ECTS credits)
The course focuses on issues of relevance for social and health care professions, and is considered especially relevant for students in the final stages of their study. Curriculum.
3. Introduction to
4. Body, movement and culture (7,5 ECTS credits)
Physiotherapy Programme will offer (2007/2008) a course called Body, movement and culture (7,5 ECTS credits). This course is for all the students at the Physiotherapy Programme and for international students (agreements). The classes are in English, and a one week study visit abroad may be included. The course can be combined with a shorter period of field placement and project assignment. In addition to these courses, most of the study programmes can arrange field placement and project assignment for international students, mainly within the frames of cooperation agreements and exchange programs.
Language course at
Every semester the university college has Norwegian language classes for international students. You learn some basic Norwegian, something about Norwegian culture and way of life and it will also include a few excursions (museum, theatre). This course does not give you any credits and is not compulsory. For those of you who have some prior knowledge of Norwegian, this is not the course to take you much further in your language training. It might be fun, though, and gives you the chance to meet other international students than the business students.
Summer courses at NTNU:
Norwegian is not a very widely spoken language, and is supported by the European Commission in the framework of the EILC programme (for ERASMUS students only). Please contact your International Office for additional application forms.
