I began my studies in 1986 at the Faculty of Chemistry at NTH, as it was then called. In the 3rd year of the Masters (siv. ing) study it was time to chose a major course of study. I was fascinated by biotechnology and biochemistry and felt that the courses offered here were the most interesting.

Education and Employment
I studied for my Master's Degree in the Chemistry and Biology at NTNU and after the second year I chose the specialty in Biotechnology. I wrote my Master's Thesis for NTNU and SINTEF, where I developed new bacteria strains for the production of the polysaccharide alginate and studied these strains in a small bioreactor or fermentor. After receiving my Master's Degree I worked in the genetics group at NTNU where I continued the work with alginate producing bacteria. In the Spring of 2004 I started working in SINTEF, Division of Biotechnology where I am still employed.
