Professor

Electric power apparatus and installations

The subject area concerns design, dimensioning and modelling of electric power apparatus and installations such as high voltage switchgear and subsea power equipment. In order to develop good designs and solutions it is often necessary to consider electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical aspects in the design phase. This often necessitates the use of numerical software for design analysis and optimization.

Research activities:

  • Compact switchgear for medium voltage distribution systems
  • Subsea power apparatus for oil&gas production including downhole equipment.
  • Electric heating of subsea pipelines
  • Electrical machines with focus on new designs for special applications.
  • High frequency magnetic components for power electronic converter
