Purpose of the survey

The surveys cover data on imports and exports of services. The purpose of the surveys is to collect data to analyze Norwegian enterprises' economic relations with other countries.

The data on external trade in services is a central part of the Norwegian Balance of Payments (BoP). In addition, the surveys will give a basis for statutory reporting to national and international organizations such as Norges Bank, Eurostat, the IMF, OECD and UN.

Respondents will submit data every quarter. The letter from Statistics Norway (only available in Norwegian) states which data your company should report and where to find the correct questionnaires. If you have any questions about reporting external trade in services, please contact us.

Guidelines for reporting

Servicecodes for reporting

The data should be sent to Statistics Norway electronically, either by filling the WEB questionnaire (in Norwegian) directly or by reporting via Altinn (Norwegian public reporting portals to central government agencies such as Statistics Norway and the Norwegian Tax Administration). Please note that there exist two questionnaires, one for reporting on imports of services and the other for reporting on exports of services.

Both questionnaires must be completed.
