UDI abolishes the suspension on the obligation to leave Norway of persons with connection to Somalia

On the basis of an overall assessement of the situation in Northern Somalia, UDI abolishes the suspension on the obligation to leave Norway. This applies to persons with connection to Somaliland and Puntland in the Northern parts of Somalia.

The immigration authorites no longer see any obvious risk for a bigger regional conflict that could involve Somaliland and Puntland. The political and security situation in Northern Somalia has been stable  for many years. Both UDI and UNE therefore abolishes the suspension on the obligation to leave Norway to these areas. This implies that asylum seekers and others from these areas whose applications have been rejected are now obliged to travel back to their home country.
