Preparation towards the processing of the MUF-cases

The UDI is content that now the new regulation for processing the so-called MUF-cases is in place, such that we can start the processing of the applications. We will clarify our practices of these cases in consultation with The Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion. We expect to start the processing by the summer and complete most of the cases by 1. November says UDI's director Ida Børresen.

The new regulation replaces the temporary regulation from 2005 for processing of applications from Iraqi citizens who have previously had a temporary permit in Norway, the so-called MUF (temporary without rights to family immigration). During the fall of 2005 and early 2006 most of the applications from this group of Iraqis were processed by the UDI.

All those who applied in relation to the temporary regulation of 2005 that is, both the 200 who were given permits as a result of strong humanitarian grounds and about 500 who fulfilled the conditions for the temporary regulation, will now have their renewal applications processed.

NB! If an applicant has already submitted an application for renewal in relation to the temporary regulation, he/she does not need to submit a new application.

The UDI has established a service telephone as a result of the new regulation that has been issued. Applicants who have enquiries about the MUF- cases can this number.

Telephone number: 23 35 19 85
