The processing of the MUF-cases resumes

The UDI is to resume the processing of the so-called MUF-cases. A circular that will regulate the processing of these cases is now ready.

Most of the cases will be processed by 1st November 2007. The UDI cannot say for certain when your application will be processed. When your application has been processed, you will be be notified of the decision through the police in the district where you live.

Questions and answers:

What happens if it takes a long time to get a G-passport from the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm?

If you have previously submitted an S-passport and you fullfill the other requirements in obtaining a permit, you will  be granted a permit with the condition that you present a G-passport by the 15th March 2008. You should however apply for a G-passport as soon as possible.

Is it only the G-passport issued by the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm that is approved by the UDI?

The UDI will base their assessements on the G-passport when the applicant met personally at the embassy for the passport to be issued.  In cases where the passport has not been issued by the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm, the applicant must document that he/she must have presented himself/herself to the Iraqi passport authorities.

I have applied for renewal of my permit based on the MUF-regulation. If my permit is renewed; how long will it be valid for?

If you applied for a renewal before your previous permit expired, you will be granted a permit valid for two years from the time the previous permit expired. For example, if your permit permit was valid until 15.12.2006 you will be granted a permit valid until 15.12.2008. If you did not apply for renewal in time (normally at least one month before the current permit expires), you will be granted a permit valid for one year.

I am among the approximately 200 applicants who were granted permits based on strong humanitarian grounds. I have applied for a renewal, what happens then?

Your case will be processed according to the new regulation, § 2a. That is, the case will be processed again according to ordinary assessement based on strong humanitarian grounds. This means that emphasis is put on medical reasons, children, situations in your home country, period of residence, immigration policy considerations etc.

While applying for a passport in the G-series, can I get a written confirmation from UDI that I am MUF?

UDI is unavailable to provide a confirmation that you are one of the individuals sometimes referred to as MUF, but may provide a confirmation that you have submitted an application for a residence permit that is being processed by the directorate. As far as the UDI knows, it is not necessary to have such a confirmation in order to be granted a passport in the G-series by the embassy in Stockholm.

In order to get a new tax deduction card, I would like a confirmation that I have a valid work permit while the application for a renewal is being processed. May I get this from the UDI?

If you have a valid work permit while the application for a renewal is being processed, you may get such a confirmation by contacting the UDI.
