Aim and Content
Participants in this course are expected to work with a practical project development in digital culture or to carry out systematic studies of available technological and/or ICT solutions. The practical project development work can be, e.g., software development, a learning system, a web site or design of a particular information architecture.
The project work is expected to lead to a concrete product relating to a real context of use. The project work is expected to take place within an environment external to the department. The student is expected to deliver, additional to the practical result, an approximately 10 page long report, linking the project with earlier research and development in the same field, documenting the work process, analyzing the result, and including the author¿s evaluation of the process and result.
If the student chooses to analyze available technologies, the project can address either a concrete empirical context of use or address more general aspects such as usability or the cultural implications of the technology. The analytical report should be approximately 20 pages long. The project theme and the project plan should be validated by the course coordinator.
Learning Outcomes
After taking the course the students should:
- be able to relate theoretical with practical aspects of Digital Culture;
- to acquire a realistic experience in designing, fulfilling and evaluating practical development work.
