Monitoring The News and Media

Do you want to monitor what the media is writing about you or the topic you are involved with?

The university has an agreement with the supplier Opoint AS for a system of media monitoring.
Every unit at UiB can make use of this agreement. A separate portal will be set up for you, with your own log-in, where you can manage searches, reports and notifications.

The agreement

The framework agreement covers the monitoring of online and printed news media, as well as a number of other kinds of websites. Opoint monitors 22,000 websites globally, of which about 2,900 are Norwegian. The agreement also covers the monitoring of several printed sources: Norwegian printed newspapers and magazines. The agreement does not include printed sources abroad. You can also ask for extra, open internet sources that you would like to have monitored.

You can receive automatic news notifications via e-mail or text message. It means that managers and individuals can all administer and decide how closely they want to monitor the news picture. Media clips can also be posted in a news feed or as a list of news items on your own pages on uib.no.

Only clips or links to online media can be posted on external websites. We do not have the rights to publish clips from printed newspapers (PDFs) externally.

Costs

There is no subscription fee for each unit; this is covered by UiB's overall agreement. NB! Text messages will be charged at 0.75 per message if you use this service.

Unit contact person

Each unit must appoint a contact person (preferably the web editor), to administer the system and act as the contact for the supplier.

Support

You can find out about all support and user support, such as creating search profiles or news notifications by contacting Opoint.
