Studying at SKOK
SKOK offers a number of courses in gender studies that students can take individually or as a full Bachelor in Gender Studies (BAHF). In addition, SKOK offers a number of courses for Master students and Ph.D. candidates.
Questions related to gender and sexuality can be a key to understanding both people and the societies we live in. Gender studies examine a range of historical and contemporary meanings of gender. Within the courses, there is room to reflect systematically on topics of crucial importance to gender, such as sexuality, ethnicity, race, religion, media, literature and society.
Central concepts in gender studies in Bergen are gender difference, intersectionality, patriarchy and sexism. Students get an overview of theoretical approaches to gender, including feminist theory, queer theory, critical race theory, psychoanalysis, feminist epistemology, democracy, globalisation and equality.
Courses that are taught in English will be posted at this site under the course code KVIK (followed by number of the course)
