Follow the IPY Traverse through our website
In November the Norwegian-American Scientific IPY Traverse will begin. The traverse will study a largely unexplored region in the east Antarctic ice, and the region's influence on climate change. You can follow the traverse through our website.

The results of the expedition may contribute to answering one of the great climate questions: What is happening with the Antarctic ice? The team is a group of scientists from Norway and the United States, and the Norwegian group is leaded by director Jan-Gunnar Winther from the Norwegian Polar Research Institute (NPI).

The team will maintain contact with the outside world via satellite. American and Norwegian pupils will be able to follow the traverse via the Internet, and the websites will be daily updated.
