• 1999 - present date: Oceanographer and data manager at the Norwegian Polar institute, Tromsø.
• 2000: Ph.D in Physical Oceanography, University of Oslo.
• 1996 - 1999: Data Manager for the ACSYS sea ice thickness repository in Longyearbyen, Svalbard.
• 1990 - 1996: Several projects addressing issues of sea ice and icebergs at the Norwegian Polar Institute, included digitizing historical sea ice maps.
• 1990: M.Sc in Oceanography, University of Oslo.
• 1988 - 1989: Scientific assistant at Department of Geophysics, University of Oslo. Field work, marine optics, in Skagerrak, under the project “The eutrophic situation in the outer Oslofjord”.
• 1980 - 81: The Norwegian Naval Academy, O/KA.
• 12 years experience of field work and expeditions to the Norwegain coastal waters, the Svalbard coastal waters, the Barents Sea, the Greenland Sea, and to the Antarctic.
