“Norways Young Catholics” and Membership

søndag, april 13th, 2008

Check out the website of “Norges Unge Katolikker”, NUK (Norways Young Catholics). The adress is www.nuk.no.

As you may have known, the Catholic Student Group in Trondheim is part of NUK. NUK is the organization which every Catholic Student Groups in Norway are a part of.

NUK receives economical support from the Government depending on the number of members that NUK has. The money that NUK receives will then again support the Student Groups in all over Norway.

That’s why I want to encourage you to join NUK. Register yourself at www.nuk.no and pay the membership fee, and you will be supporting Catholic Students locally and nationally.

The registration is in norwegian, so for those who has problem with it, contact me for help. I will bring up this subject on the coming meeting.

Finally, I’ve posted the pictures. Apologies for my slowness. I’m really good at postponing things. Anyways, enjoy! And do check out the pictures from the other happenings also. Links are on the right.

Adoration and Enthusiasm

mandag, april 7th, 2008

On adoration. 15 students and young adults gathered and spent some time in the church praying, singing and praising the Lord. For four, it was (as far as I know) their first time with the Catholic Student Group in Trondheim. Rumors has it that somebody from the Group had been inviting people to our meetings. If that’s the case (which I’m sure it is) I’m happy about it. Anything that makes our fellowship grows even more is encouraged.

The adoration this time was characterized with nice singing by the students and young adults. There were also some reading from different texts. One of them is posted here on this website (The link on the right “Text: The Most Precious Thing”). Clarisse, who had kindly prepared the songs and texts, fully deserves credit.

In other news, 5 students from the Group had been showing great enthusiasm lately by spending a whole weekend helping P. Dominic with the Confirmand Camp in the north. Maria Cao, Cecilia, Piotr, Daniele and Maria eagerly said yes when they were asked to help out in the kitchen if need be, play instruments during the Mass, and watch over the kids/confirmands. How they survived the 3 days long trip with over 30 unpredictable teenagers is still a mystery.

The Hidden Treasure and the Pearl

torsdag, april 3rd, 2008

13 students gathered on the 12th of Mars to listen to P. Etienne’s lecture. I was pleased to see some new faces. Hopefully, our new argentinian friends, Federico and Tatiana, will join us on future occasions. Additionally, Theodor, our former chairman, was there.

Basically, P. Etienne was going to talk about the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl. The parables aren’t long. But the aim of the lecture was to analyse them as deep as possible. Which we did. And the lecture lasted for about 2 hours.

It was an interesting lecture. But the content may be to complex for me to write a report about. One thing I remember from the lecture though, is that the Treasure or the Pearl symbolize something precious, something worth more than anything you’ve ever had. And whatever this precious thing is, you will never find it, if you do not actively search for it.

That is one thing that I’ve learned from the lecture. Search.
