The Teacher Education Programme South-North
The goal of the Teacher Education Programme South- North is to contribute to strengthen the quality of the teacher education in the South as a means of improving basic education and securing Education for All.
The programme aims to develop mechanisms of interchange for mutual benefit in the field of teacher education and is founded on collaborations between institutions of teacher education in Norway and in the South. The cooperation is based on the South partner’s institutional and pedagogic needs and the Norwegian partner’s competence and capacity to meet these.
The collaborations should be based on activities related to pedagogic research- and development work with focus on studies of framework condition for learning. Another aim for the programme is to acquire sufficient experience in the event of establishing a long term programme for teacher’s education in the South.
The Programme is a pilot programme for the years 2005- 2007 and is financed by Norad and administrated by SIU. The total budget frame is NOK 13 million.
