Day Care
In the Bergen area there is a general shortage of day care facilities, in particular for children under the age of three. The closing date for applications at most nurseries and kindergartens is March 1 and must be made for an entire kindergarten year (August - June/July). Therefore, it is advisable to plan for day care services well ahead of time and to check out private facilites that often operate under more flexible conditions. The municipality can provide an overview and counseling with regard to public and private day care options available in your neighborhood.
Fagertun Kindergarten is run by the Student Welfare Organisation in Bergen, but is owned by the University of Bergen. The kindergarten has 43 places, and the University has rights to 38 of these. The places are reserved for children of fellowship holders and employees pursuant to adopted criteria. Female fellowship holders have special precedence.
Application forms are available from the Student Welfare Organisation in Bergen.
