BIO-2102, Ecological theory (Ecology 2a)

Contents Builds on principles introduced in the course Ecology and Evolution (Bio-1005) concerning topics in population- community-, and conservation-ecology. Subjects covered vary from a botanical perspective on grazing ecology to the structure of animal communities, including predator-prey interactions. Application of ecological theory within conservation biology will be emphasised. The teaching is research-based and designed to provide students with up-to-date information regarding research approaches at UiTø (including co-operators associated with the university).

Recommended previous qualifications BIO-1005 Ecology and Evolution

Form of teaching Lectures, 20 h, Seminars, 15-20 h.

Coursework requirements .

Exam and assessment 4 h written exam.

Date(s) of written examination 31.05.2006 The exam date is preliminary and may be subject to change. Definitive exam date will be announced on the notice boards at the faculties in the beginning of May for the spring semester and in the beginning of November for the autumn semester.
