BIO-2104, Plant Structure and Function

Work Load 10  credits (ECTS)

Contents The course will discuss in depth physiological aspects of plant growth, development, function and adaptation to environmental conditions. In addition, BIO-2104 will also discuss the organisation of the plant genomes and give an introduction to molecular aspects of plant development and function. In the laboratory course, the students will learn how to establish plant tissue cultures and organogenesis and perform experiments in basic aspects of plant metabolism, function, growth and development.

Form of teaching Lectures/seminars 40 hours, obligatory laboratory exercises 24 hours, colloquiums.

Assessment 4 h written exam at semester end, after approved laboratory report.

Date(s) of written examination 14.06.2005 The exam date is preliminary and may be subject to change. Definitive exam date will be announced on the notice boards at the faculties in the beginning of May for the spring semester and in the beginning of November for the autumn semester.
