The acquisition of tonal structure in Stockholm Swedish and Tokyo Japanese

I'm planning to talk about the mechanisms through which the child extracts tonal structures in languages such as Swedish and Tokyo where pitch contours are composites of lexical and intonational tones. The talk won't be so much about the analysis of these tonal structures in the adult systems, but more about the discovery procedures that can explain how the leaner gets to the end-point and what the actual developmental data look like.
