Section for Research Administration at the University of Tromsø

The Section for Research Administration is part of the university’s central administration. The Section for Research Administration co-ordinates strategic and management-related tasks within research and research administration.

The Section for Research Administration is responsible for the education of researchers in collaboration with the research co-ordinators at each faculty.

The section is the secretariat for the Central Research Committee, which is responsible for, among other things, a range of funding schemes like scholarships for research abroad for Ph. D students and transitional scholarships.

The section is also responsible for co-ordinating and offering support in relation to the university’s applications for external research funds from, for example, the Research Council of Norway, the EU’s programmes for research and development and the commercialisation of research results.

The section is responsible for documenting the university’s production of research results. In order to achieve this, in association with UiO, UiB and NTNU, the university is working on the development of the research documentation system, Frida.

From January 1, 2005 the Department of Research has merged with the Department of Academic Affairs to form the Department of Research and Academic Affairs.
