Electrical Engineering
The members of the Electrical Engineering Group are conducting
research at an international level.
The activity covers the fields of signal processing and machine learning, remote sensing, biomedical engineering and integrated optics.
Some representative research projects
Hellesø: Integrated optics
Jacobsen: Hyperthermia
Jenssen: Intelligent data analysis

 |
| Research on breast tumors using boad band antennas has been focused on for several years. |
 |
| A new approach to machine learning has been developed, called information theoretic learning. |
The group members publish in international journals and attend conferences and workshops. Please see the web-pages of the individual group members for publication details.
The professors are active in the scientific community by reviewing papers, editing journals and organizing conferences.
Several group members have funding from the Norwegian Research Council, including one Outstanding Young Investigator Award.
Members of the group have received "the year 2000 IEEE Neural Network Society Best Paper Award," "Honorable Mention for the 2003 Pattern Recognition Society Award" and "the 2005 IEEE ICASSP Outstanding Student Paper Award."
Group members have also been involved in industrial projects, with one recent project resulting in a spin-off company.
Several Ph.D. students and M.sc. students are associated with the group. Collaboration at departmental, national and international level is considered paramount, and both professors and Ph.D. students regularly visit other research institutions.
