Contents Covers further topics in discrete mathematics such as complexity of algorithms, elementary number theory, boolean algebra, zero-knowledge protocols and Turing machines. There are no specific prerequisites but a level of mathematical maturity equivalent to that obtained from MAT-1001 Calculus 1 or MAT-1005 Discrete mathematics 1 is presupposed.
Form of teaching Lectures: 40 h Coursework: 30 h, a passing grade is requried on up to 6 mandatory homework sets for permission to take the exame.
Compulsory teaching Assignments
Assessment Written exam of 4 hours duration. Letter grades (A-F).
Examination semester Spring
Date(s) of written examination 09.06.2006 The exam date is preliminary and may be subject to change. Definitive exam date will be announced on the notice boards at the faculties in the beginning of May for the spring semester and in the beginning of November for the autumn semester.
