Tumor biochemistry research group

Group leader:
Prof. Nils Erik Huseby

Butyrate has a multitude of effects on cancer cells including arrest of growth and apoptosis. The picture shows the morphology of colon carcinoma cells after treatment under initiation of apoptosis
The major aim of our research projects is to gain a better understanding of how tumor cells can resist oxidative stress and how they regulate the homeostasis of glutahione, a major intracellular antioxidant in these processes. This may improve future cancer treatments.
