TV-aksjonen – Sammen for barn

Årets TV-aksjon er tildelt UNICEF Norge. Inntektene går til barn berørt av hiv og aids. Aksjonen gjennomføres i samarbeid med Right To Play og Norges Idrettsforbund og Olympiske Komité fordi idrett er ett av virkemidlene i hiv- og aidsarbeidet rettet mot barn. Sammen skal UNICEF og idretten mobilisere givere og sørge for at barn berørt av hiv og aids slipper å kjempe alene.

Funding for health collaboration

Please be reminded about the due date, 15th October, for applications to the Barents Health and Social Programme for 2008.

Projects need to have collaborating partners from Russia and Norway, and either can apply on behalf of the partnership.

Educating Health Workers for Peace

On June 13-15th, 2007, the Centre for International Health is coorganising an international symposium at the University of Tromsø. This conference aims to enhance training and research on peace and conflict issues in the health sector.

Four medical students are travelling to Lira in Uganda for their 2. year elective periode. They will be staying at Lira Regional Referral Hospital for two weeks and are focusing on learning about the work on preventing mother to child transmission of HIV/Aids.

Three medical students from UiTø, Miriam Andreassen, Eirin Haugli Falch and Anette Vibeke Nilsen, are travelling to Port-au-Prince in Haiti for their 2.year elective period. Their focus wil be on HIV/Aids while spending their time at the University Hospital de la Paix and the GHESKIO HIV/Aids Clinic.

The former Chief Medical Officer of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Dr. Pierre Perrin, will give a Wednesday-morning-session at UNN on the topic of Human Security in Complex Emergencies.

Nonviolent Communication in the everyday life of a health-professional

Free course on March 3rd: SIH together with the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AMA) arrange a one-day-course on empathic communication with the French physician Pascale Molho.

Norwegian dentists in Uganda

One of SIH's projects, a Fredskorpset/FK Norway exchange aiming at improving the dental services for children in Lira, Uganda, receives attention in local Norwegian press. (Norwegian article).
