The plan meets the intentions of the General plan and Regulations for a three-year bachelor programme in Nursing as stated by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, July 1, 2004.
The academic programme is organized into 9 moduls: 6 in nursing, 2 in public health and 1 individual directed research, on 3 different levels.
Basic level The basic level consists of modules 1, 2, and 3, and covers the basic elementary knowledge and skills needed in nursing and in a college education. The objective of nursing is focused on people of all ages, their basic needs and their experience of well-being, health, and of illness. Public health is focused on the general health of the community.
Professional level This level concerns the more specified areas in nursing. The focus is on the acute and critical ill, those with psychiatric illness and those who are chronically and/or functionally impaired. These are patients of all ages and who are in different phases of the specific illness. Also those who are well but vulnerable are included in this focus.
Individual research level The student conducts an individual direct research with a finishing paper. The paper may be with advantage written in cooperation with a clinical practice place.
