1. To sign in
- Go to http://www.transactions.uio.no/
- Press "Sign in" button in left side bar, and sign in.
- In order to contribute and edit the TransActions space, send your username in a mail (Subject: "Transactions-access") to idunnsem@intermedia.uio.no. This should be done by all participants as soon as possible. External participants will have to do the same.

2. To "watch" pages
To "watch" or monitor a TransAction page by incoming e-mails, go to "view", select "this page" from the drop down menu, and further "watch this page".

3. To see the whole space
To "watch" or monitor the whole TransAction space by incoming e-mails, go to "view", select "other pages" from the drop down menu, and further "Space activity". When on the page displaying "page activity" you are now allowed to go to "view", select  "this page" from the drop down menu, and further "wach this space".

4. To add and edit a page

To add a wiki page within the TransAction space, go to "edit", select "new" and further "page". Add title, text and labels inside the edit-page that appears, and press "save".

A page is now created that will apear in the url and in the site map as a "child" of the page you were browsing. Typicaly this is the page you would like to create a link from to the new page (e.g. from people to individual people-pages). It is important in other words to be aware of the page you are browsing when you create a new page, as hierarchic  parent-child relations between pages are important  to create a good site map.

To edit a page, brows to the page you want to edit, go to "edit" in the menu, and select  "edit this page" in the drop down menu. Press "save".

5. To add and edit a blog entry

Contrary to pages, blog entrys can be created regardless of the page you are browsing. Go to "edit", select "new" in the dropdown menu and further "news" (news is the confluence wiki term for what we in TransActions use as Blog functionality). Add title, text and labels inside the edit-page that appears, and press "save".

IN PROGESS and not yet to be transacted by participants: In addition to the meta-labels or "tags" you give your blog entry, do also make sure you give the project label you have been given as soon as all projects are gathered e.g. "prosjekt2". This will never be visible for others, but enable us to filter and display your blog entries onto your project page.

6. To add an event or milestone
When adding a calendar entry, make sure you separate shared events (of optional title) from a milestone when you enter "Summary". If your event is what we have termed milestone (e.g. a milestone in your project work such as conferance paper), then add the url of your TransAction project page in the "Target" cell. This will ( when impimented!) make the Flash object on the front page that monitors the activity display the milestone with your visual representation and link directly to your project page.

You MUST give the event or MILESTONE a time! If you choose "all day", this will hilde all events.

7. To restore earlier versions of a page
To restore earlier versions of a page you need to view page history and select the version you would like to go back to. Go to "view", select  "this page" in the dropdown menu and further "page information". On the bottom of the right side column you will find the "view page history" link. Press this link and you vill be able to choose the version you want to restore.

8. To insert an image, a link or attach a document
You have to save your new news-entry/page befor attaching image to it. When saved, re-enter into edit mode and set  the marker where you want the image to appear. Press the "insert/edit image" symbol (icon of a picture in the editor). Brows to your image and press "Attach". Press the icon of your imag that now is available and schoose whether you want the image to appear as a thumbnail or not, whether the image should be aligned or not so the text can float around it. Press "ok".

You can alter the image size by activating the image and resizing it while holding shift on your keyboard to keep the proportions.

..... link
Mark the words you want to turn into a alink, and press the "insert/edit link" symbol (icon of a globe and chane in the editor). Paste the url in the dialogue box that now appears, or search for the TransAction entry/page you want to link to.

..... attach a document
Select "attach" under "edit" and brows/attach your document. Enter into edit mode ("edit this page"), and swap from "Rich Text" to "Wiki Markup" and write [^dokumentnavn.pdf] where you want the attached document to appear as a link.

9. To insert a video

If you have recorded a video using your phone, its size might be small enough so that you can attach it directly to the page. If so, attach your video and write Unable to render embedded object: File (videoname.mpg4) not found. in "Wiki Markup" mode where you want it to appear.

If the video is long and would take long for the user to open the page you would have attached it to, upload your video to YouTube. Copy the object tag that YouTube allows you to embed (look for "embed" on the page presenting the video). When editing your TransActions page, switch to "Wiki markup" mode

and paste the object tag where you want the video to appear on your page. Add the macro "

"
before and after the object tag.

10. Notation guide
In "Wiki markup" mode, elementary notation help appears in the right side column. For more help, press the link "full notation guide" in this column.
The TransActions site is not only a tool for the research group, but an object of research interest in itself. We approach this as research rhetoric. The site offers functionalities that are exploratory and customised add-ons to the functionalities given by the underlying wiki.
