Indo-Norwegian Workshop on Enhanced Recovery from Oilfields held in Hydrabad (2007-10-31)
A two-day Indo-Norwegian workshop on “4-D
seismic with special reference to Balol and Vasai
Oil Fields: Enhanced Oil Recovery” was held at the
National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad,
during 17-18 March 2007. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and NGRI jointly sponsored the workshop. Participants from Norway were Professor Martin Landrø, NTNU and President Eivind Berg, Seabed Geophysical. See the CSIR News, p. 219, for more information.

REN Study Tour to Washington DC (2007-10-24)
A group of around 25 people from the partners of REN - the Research and Educational Network - visited Washington DC during October 14-18, 2007. Companies and instituions visited were Lockheed Martin, The World Bank, George Mason University, University of Maryland, Computer Technology Services, Defence Acquisition University, Naois Corporation and Will Interactive. The department´s representative was Jon Kleppe.

First NOMA Conference in Maputo (2007-10-24)
Norad and SIU arranged the first NOMA Conference in Maputo, Mozambique. Key issues were success criteria and practices for the new Norad Program, NOMA, which started this fall. NOMA aims at developing higher educational institutions in South. Both partners of the department´s NOMA programs, from Universidade Agostinho Neto, Angola and Eduardo Modlane Universidade, Mozambique, respectively, participated. The department delegate was Jon Kleppe.
The 250 year anniversary is today! (2007-10-19)
The jubilee of the Bergseminaret på Kongsberg, the first Norwegian school for civil technical education, is celebrated today in a seminar and a dinner at Lerchendal gård, in order to emphasize the fact that NTH took over the school in 1910.

IO07 successfully completed (2007-10-03)
The international seminar IO07 was conducted at Britannia Hotel Tuesday and Wednesday with around 240 partcipants. The theme of the conference was Science and Practice, and the program included topics on new technology as well as on the softer sides of Integrated Operations.
Formal opening of the Center for Integrated Operations (2007-10-03)
Following long discussions between the partners in the Center for Integrated Operations, it was was officially designated as a SFI on Monday. The physical symbol of this status may be seen on the wall just inside the new department addition. Mr. Trond Lilleng of Hydro unveiled the symbol and the Research Council delegation to the Board, Mr. Tor-Petter Johnsen, gave a speech.
