Before Going Home
There are some things that you have to arrange before leaving Norway. They must be done so that you won’t be charged extra and to avoid problems on school matters. It is important that you notify your landlord or the SSiB (depending on where you live), at least a month in advance of your departure. For some accommodation agreements you have to notify the landlord 3 months in advance. If you fail to do so you might not get back your deposit for accommodation. It is also important that you clean well before leaving, and make sure that the landlord or the SSiB has inspected the accommodation area, so that you have a chance to fix it before leaving. Make sure you get back your deposit before leaving the country.
Another thing you have to do is to notify companies about your departure, so that you can cancel all subscriptions, and agreements you have in Norway (like phone subscription, electricity subscription etc.) Notify the Norwegian authorities, and if you have a job, you have a responsibility to your employer to give them at least a month of notice.
If you have borrowed the kitchen kit and the quilt and pillow, please return this to the International Office cleaned and aired. If you have broken some of the things you have borrowed from the International Office, you won’t get the deposit you paid in the beginning of the semester.
How to get your transcript of record:
You get your diploma or your transcript of records sent to your home address automatically 2 weeks after ended censor. This applies to students who have completed their study on time according to their study plan. Students who have not fulfilled their studies within the original study plan must order their diploma or transcript of records. If you have fulfilled your studies according to your original study plan, and you haven’t received you diploma or your transcript of records within 3 weeks after the ended censor, you must contact the student service at the entrance A or send an e-mail to: studentservice@hibo.no. Remember to give information about your course of study, student number, birth date and home address. It is important that you check with the student office before you leave if they have the correct address. You also have to notify if you are going to change address within the study period or right after you study period.
Please give your address to the International Office, since they are most likely to be the link between you and Bodø University College. If you have changed address during your stay in Norway, please notify and give the new address to the International Office, including if you know that you are going to change address in the near future.
WHEN GOING HOME
It is important that you give the transcript of record to your home university, so that they can include this in your diploma. If you are doing your whole career in Bodø University College, you must get your grade recognised by the authority in your home country, so that it is valid for your working career.
When you have gone home we ask you to give us an evaluation of your year in Norway, and the school, so that we know what we are good at and what can be done even better. If you don’t inform us on matters concerning your study here in Norway, students coming afterwards will get the same treatment as you. It is important for us to be able to improve on every aspect concerning the international students.
