Student Venue

Samfunnet – the student venue – was established in its own building in the fall of 1995. Since its meagre beginnings it has evolved into a house consisting of Bodø’s biggest and best concert venue, a pub with beer and wine licence run by volunteers from the student body, and an overall student hangout. In 2003 total sales reached NOK 3.1 mill, and about 120 students each semester volunteer to run the venue.
We can accommodate up to 700 people and it is the natural place to meet fellow students and other friends everyday after 3:00 pm. Attend one of our many activities and concerts, or visit us by yourself for a quiet afternoon with coffee, local newspapers and peaceful background music.
With the exception of a general manager on a part-time contract, Samfunnet employs solely voluntary students from the many groups responsible for the different departments. The management consists of a board of six students- the general manager and the heads of five departments: service & security, sound & lights, accounting, culture & band welfare, and sales & marketing.
At the start of each semester new volunteers are registered and selected as employees and are given thorough training in the many tasks each department is responsible for.
Only our imagination sets limits to the activities at that can be held Samfunnet. The various student organisations arrange gatherings for its own members, and happenings open for all students, such as the Blues Party or the official Get-Together during our opening weeks each fall. Our most popular activities are Football Nights – big screen TV broadcasts, Students' Night – party each Wednesday with lots of students and resident DJ’s, and concerts with the biggest and best Norwegian (and some Scandinavian) artists.
Samfunnet is a "Pro Bono" organisation and all revenue is put back into student welfare here in Bodø.
Uka
Every other year Samfunnet is a major contributor to the biggest student venture in Bodø: Uka (the week). This is a week where students and employees at each institute excel in showing off their programs and student activities. The days are packed with conventions and seminars, which are highly attended until our concerts and other activities start in the evening. About 500 students are commited to make this a happening to remember and a highlight from your time in Bodø.
